Honours

The Blackwater & Dengie Youth Football League was formed in 1976 in an amalgamation between the Blackwater League, based in Maldon and the much smaller Dengie Hundred League originally started to serve teams in the Burnham, Southminster and Althorne area in the 1960's.

In the early days it was mostly restricted to the immediate area around Maldon and Burnham but gradually the League has grown and now extends to an area stretching from in the main Brentwood to Hedingham, although we do have sides from Great Dunmow. It has always been and remains a good mixture of town teams, often from large clubs, and village sides serving quite small communities. What has also remained a key feature of the League is that it has always tried to remember that the Management Committee are there to do their best to serve clubs.

The Committee and Officers have a long record of implementing a policy of approachability and a genuine desire to assist clubs wherever possible. In the past six years the League has grown spectacularly and in several age groups two divisions now operate. The aim of the league is a very simple one: to operate the most efficient administration that the voluntary Officers can achieve with the least degree of formality.

We are very proud of our League and in particular the past excellent disciplinary record of the teams in membership. We hope that the League will continue to go from strength to strength and are grateful for the support and help that we get from Member Clubs.

We believe that we have largely maintained the spirit of the original founders and will continue to strive hard to maintain that important connection with the past based on sporting competition.
